Yalta

Koreiz or how and why the Tatar village became the resting place of the Russian aristocracy

Description:

I want to show you Koreaz (from the Turkic "cursite market" - a shopping area in Koreiz for 7 centuries).

On the steep slopes between the two mountain streams of Zagmat and Ulu-Uzen in the early XIX century. there was an amazing castle "Alexandria" Prince Alexander Nikolaevich Golitsyn - Ober-Prosecutor of the Holy Synod and personal friend of Alexander I. At the beginning of the twentieth century. in this castle, visiting Countess Panina was treated by L.N. Tolstoy. And before leaving for emigration, the Nabokov family fled the revolution for a whole year.

From the Mastva Rock we will see the estate "New World" Anna Sergeevna Vsevolozhskaya-Golitsina, a passionate follower of pietism, a pioneer in the development of the Crimean coast, a friend of Count Vorontsov!

We will visit the estates of Counts Sumarokov-Elstonov, Princes Yusupov. Their house in Koreiz is a place of interweaving of epochs: the best aristocratic families of Russia from the Romanovs, Shuvalovs and Dolgorukis to the era of Stalin, Gorbachev and Yushchenko!

We meet in Yalta at the Veschevsky market, by bus No. 122 we get to Gaspra, inspect the estate "Alexandria". About a kilometer along an asphalt road to the rock of Machtova. Then, through the old shopping area of Koreiz along a winding street (1.2 km) we go down to the owner's house of Countess Catherine Petrovna Kleinmikhel - the great charity of the Crimean coast, the maid of honor of Empress Maria Fedorovna. And, continuing the journey (half a kilometer), we get to the estate "Koreaz" of the Counts of Sumarokov-Elston, the Yusupov princes - the acting state dacha - the location of the Soviet delegation and I.V. Stalin during the Crimean Conference of the heads of the three powers in 1945; a park and a palace; the famous terracotta lions of the Yusupovs; the main dining room, where the first reception of the heads of the United States and Great Britain took place in February 1945; Stalin's personal apartments.

If desired, you can instead of the Yusupov Palace go to visit Grand Duke Peter Nikolaevich Romanov in the estate "Dulber" - the oriental fairy tale of the Crimean coast.

We finish the tour at the Polyclinic stop in Miskhor, from where you can get to Yalta by buses No. 132 and 102.
