The teeth of Ai-Petri consist of four large (60-80 m high) and a number of small protrusions on the crest formed during the weathering of heterogeneous reef limestones.
The name Ai-Petri is of Greek origin and is translated as "Saint Peter" (Greek еγιος Πέτρος - ayos petros). Ai-Petri can be understood as the entire Ai-Petri Yayla, and the very top of Ai-Petri, located at the southern point of the plateau. There is a wind farm on the plateau, but due to strong winds, the blades were ripped off and now it is inoperable. Also on the plateau, on Perepelina Mountain (Bedene-Kyr - 1320 m), in Soviet times, a complex of radar stations for tracking air and space was built. Ai-Petri is located above the city of Alupka and the village of Koreiz in the territory that is part of the Yalta mountain and forest reserve. From the north, the road to the top goes from the Belbek valley, from the village of Sokolinoe. In difficult weather conditions and in the fire-hazardous period (July-August), the road for safety is often blocked by the traffic police. Sometimes only passenger transport is missed. In winter, travel to Ai-Petri is regulated by the traffic police station, located in the middle of the serpentine after the resting place of the waterfall Uchan-Su. Often the passage is further open only to SUVs equipped with snow chains. One of the hiking routes to the top of Ai-Petri goes from the waterfall Uchan-Su along the Botkin and Taraktash trails to the plateau and further along the dirt road to the highway Yalta-Bakhchisarai. A number of climbing routes of the 1-5 category of difficulty are laid on the top of the mountain, including through the teeth of Ai-Petri. Also in close proximity to the top are the beginnings of several trails for cycling freeride. The highest point of the plateau of Ai-Petri is Mount Roka - 1346 m above sea level.
