Yaroslavl

Guardian of cultural heritage Yaroslavl. Part 2

Description:

It is better to continue acquaintance with the history of the city at the exposition “Ten Centuries of the History of Yaroslavl” in the Museum of the History of the city.

The museum is located on the Volga embankment in an ancient merchant mansion. Visitors are offered antique photos, layouts and fragments of interiors, as well as a virtual exposition - the multimedia program "Yaroslavl - XX century". The Department of the Museum “From the History of Medicine of Yaroslavl” will acquaint visitors with the history of the development and formation of medical knowledge in the city.

Not far from the Museum of the history of the city is the Yaroslavl Art Museum. Today it is the largest collection of works of art in the Russian province. In 1998, the Yaroslavl Art Museum was declared the winner of the first competition “Window to Russia” in the nomination “Museum of the Year”. The permanent exhibition of the Yaroslavl art gallery “Russian Art of the XVIII – early XX century” is located in the governor’s house, the former residence of the Yaroslavl rulers. Of particular interest are the Yaroslavl provincial portrait of the first half of the XIX century, the only collection in Russia of works of the late period of Konstantin Korovin’s work, the works of the Russian avant-garde.

In the park at the Governor’s House, a modern sculpture is exhibited. Operates in the museum and the front office of the current governor of the Yaroslavl region. Visitors have the opportunity to see with their own eyes the situation in which the Yaroslavl Governor holds the most responsible business meetings and negotiations.

If you prefer museums that are quite unusual, then you should look at the first private museum officially opened in Russia. It belongs to D. G. Mostoslavsky and is called “Music and Time”. All his life, John Grigorievich collected a collection of antique watches, musical instruments, bells, porcelain, individual household items of different eras, and now has the opportunity to show the accumulated people. The owner of the museum is a talented, cheerful, energetic person. He often introduces himself to his museum, meetings with John Grigorievich remain in the memory of every visitor for a long time.

It is not difficult to find most of the Yaroslavl museums: they are located on the embankments of the Volga and Kotorosli. A walk from the museum to the museum will give you a real pleasure.

It is somewhat more difficult to find the house-museum of L.V. Sobinov, standing on the street named after the famous opera singer. But try to overcome this difficulty. The museum is unique, it not only gives an idea of the personality and work of the great artist of Russia, but also acquaints with the life of one of the typical rich houses of Yaroslavl, in which Leonid Vitalyevich spent the first eighteen years of his life. In Sobinov’s house you can hear recordings of arias performed by a tenor who won the hearts of thousands of fans.

Another museum dedicated to the countryman of Yaroslavl is located 15 kilometers from the city in the village of Karabiha. There is a literary museum of N.A. Nekrasov. This is the only noble estate in the Yaroslavl Territory that has retained its former architectural appearance. A two-storey house with belvedere and outbuildings is buried in the greenery of age-old parks. The poet spent ten summer seasons in Karabikh in the circle of his relatives and friends. The exposition of the Big House of the estate conveys the atmosphere of the estate life of the Nekrasovs, tells about family customs and traditions.

For 5 years now, the only interactive children’s museum in the field – “Museum of Grandfather Mazai” – has been meeting its visitors in Karabikh.

Every year, for more than 30 years, on the first Saturday of July, Karabiha invites all lovers of Russian poetry to the traditional Nekrasov holiday. Come to Yaroslavl for a few days, the city is not only beautiful with its appearance, but is rich in collections of many museums that preserve the majestic cultural heritage of our ancestors. / TPNews
