Zheleznogorsk City Museum of Local History

Zheleznogorsk City Museum of Local Lore has been operating since the twentieth of January one thousand nine hundred and ninety-four. Ten employees and five researchers are working on the preservation and development of the museum’s collection. The collection of the museum includes more than nineteen thousand two hundred items, thirteen thousand five hundred items of the collection are presented in the exposition and are included in the main funds of the museum. Zheleznogorsk City Museum of Local Lore was established in accordance with the Resolution No. 442 of 21.07.92 of the city administration. The museum is located in a two-storey brick building. The most popular expositions are the diorama quarry, the Hall of Military Glory ("Time chose them" - section of the exposition about soldiers who died in Afghanistan and Chechnya), section of ethnography. Zheleznogorsk City Museum of Local Lore works in the form of a non-profit institution with specialization in the field of local history, that is, it does not have as the main goal of its activity the extraction of profit and does not distribute the profit received between participants. Zheleznogorsk City Museum of Local Lore is an organization of municipal subordination. The main activities of the museum: cultural and research.
