In the foothills of Mount Zamora there is the fabulous Cantacuzino Castle, surrounded by a park and a virgin forest of more than 800 hectares, the former owner of which Grigore Cantacuzino (1832-1913) is a descendant of the Byzantine noble family, the former mayor of the capital (1869-1870, 1913), the Prime Minister (1899-1900, 1904-1907), the head of the Conservative Party (1899-1907), who at that time was considered the largest landowner in our country.

Its excellent location, with a luxurious entrance, with wrought iron gates that lead to an alley with high pines along it. Immediately outside the gate, it feels like you entered the boyar estate. Around the Cantacuzino Palace, the picture is even more impressive. Artesian fountains, artificial grotto and Karayman peak in the mountains of Bucech with the cross of heroes, which entered the Book of Records, confirm that the chosen place was ideal for the construction of the palace and that the owners took full advantage of this area.

The architect who left his mark here is Gregory Cherkez, who made a significant contribution to the construction of the Royal Palace of Cotroceni in Bucharest.
