Description:

Excursion to the fortress of Sighisoara "Pearl of Transylvania"

Sighisoara is one of the charming fortresses of Transylvania, in the Middle Ages it was part of the so-called Sibenbürgen (Semigradje). Confirmation of the fact that Sighisoara has preserved the spirit of the Middle Ages, original ancient architecture and historical value is the fact that the fortress of Sighisoara is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.

It is also noteworthy that Sighisoara is one of the few inhabited fortresses in Europe and not least it is the birthplace of the most famous Romanian – Prince Vlad the Tepes. Even preserved house in which in 1431 was born little Vladik, the future formidable Prince Dracula, a national hero for Romania and of course the mysterious count vampire for the rest of the world, after the novel was printed writer Bram Stoker – Dracula. Today in this house is a themed medieval restaurant - Casa Vlad Dracul.

Therefore, we invite you to plunge into the world of the Middle Ages and organize an informative and romantic tour of the ancient streets of this fortress.

In Sighisoara, you can visit the Clock Tower, unique in Romania due to the medieval clock with figures, some of them change their position, the drummer is the symbol of the guard, sentenced to death, the days of the week and the ancient gods, angels who tell us when the working day begins and ends. Also, a very interesting idea is conveyed to us by figures symbolizing Justice and Justice.

We will see a bust of the honorary citizen of Sighisoara, Dracula, by the way, in his house even show the room in which he was born. Stroll through the fortress, we will admire the architecture of ancient houses and historical monuments: the Church of the monastery of the Dominicans, the Tower of Shoes (You know who the most famous shoemaker of Romania? if not, learn during the tour :)), the Tower of Ports, the main square of the fortress where the most important events in the life of the citizens were held: bazaar, meetings, performances, executions, performances and executions... in principle in the cruel Middle Ages it was the same thing.

Hear a lot of Sighisoryan legends, of course, legends from the life of Vlad Tepes, we can go to the Tower of Kozhevnikov where a representative of the guild of Romania – master Nistor – works as a tanner, you can buy good quality things from handmade leather from him.

Do not forget about the physical education lesson – we are waiting for the Staircase of schoolchildren on which we climb the School Hill and visit the main church of medieval Sighisoara – the Church on the Hill.

After a tour of the fortress, at will, we can walk along the fortress wall that surrounds the Hill of the Fortress and the Lower City, where you can also see a very interesting architecture.

Note: In spring, summer and autumn, when we go to Sighisoara on the way, we visit the ancient Transylvanian village of Viskri, where there is an opportunity to visit another interesting UNESCO monument, the fortified Saxon Viskri Church.
