Transylvania

Description:

Transylvania (Transilvania) is a historical Hungarian and Romanian region in the north-west of Romania, the most popular region of the country, famous all over the world for the castle of Count Dracula in Bran, medieval towns, Brasov and Sighisoara, unique fortified churches taken under the protection of UNESCO, as well as unforgettable nature: forests and fields, snowy peaks of Fagaras and many ruins of ancient fortresses scattered here and there.

Transylvania is a stunningly beautiful land where mountains are replaced by fields and mountains again, but completely different. Here at every step you can find fabulous castles, singing gypsies, Gothic cathedrals and medieval cities with cobbled streets. Central Romania covers what is popularly called Transylvania, which immediately suggests the legend of Count Dracula. While the legend is certainly intriguing, the region has many more attractions. Some of the best preserved medieval cities in Europe are found here, most notably Sighisoara, Brasov, Sibiu, Bran. Visitors can admire the unique architectural treasures of Transylvania, castles, fortified churches and centuries-old houses, powerful and rich citadels. Brasov is one of the most popular cities in Transylvania, its main attraction is the Black Temple, built in the Gothic style. Also interesting are the churches of St. Nicholas and Bartholomew, the Historical Museum and the Town Hall of the 15th century. In the same Transylvania is located Sighisoara - the city where Vlad Tepes was born (the Count Dracula). The “Mustsee” of this town is the Clock Tower (now a museum), a Gothic church located on a hill, and the Historical Museum.
