Lake Natron
The lake is located in northern Tanzania, near the Kenyan border.
Description:
Lake Natron is located in northern Tanzania and is a unique place. The reservoir is a habitat of flamingos and an archaeological site, where the remains of Homo Sapiens, which are more than 30 thousand years old, were found.
The territory of the lake is chosen by flamingos - every summer more than 2 million birds gather here. Natron is the only place in the world where the small flamingo breeds. Another feature of the lake is the crust of salt, which covers its surface. As a result of the vital activity of microorganisms living in the lake, the salt crust can be painted in red and pink shades, which is an amazing sight.
