Description:
Gombe Stream National Park is Tanzania’s smallest national park located in the west of the country. Renowned primate scientist Jane Goodall spent a lot of time in the forests of the park, founding the first such research project here.
The park is located on the shore of Lake Tanganyika. The basis of the park is represented by wild forests on the slopes of steep hills and river valleys. The northern coast of the lake is sandy. The park can only be reached by boat.
The main attraction of the park are chimpanzee families, the estimated number of which in the park reaches 90 individuals. In addition, other primates can be found in the park, mainly red-tailed monkeys, red colobuses and baboons. There are also more than 200 species of birds in the park.
