Constitution Day of Thailand

Description:

Thai coat of arms
"Constitution Day" is celebrated on December 10 - in memory of the adoption of the 1st Constitution of the country, repeatedly revised since then.

The Anantasamakom Throne Palace is located in the National Assembly complex of Thailand, near the equestrian statue of King Chulalongkorn (Rama V).

Construction of the palace, which was conceived as a place for royal ceremonies, began in November 1908 under King Chulalongkorn. The reforming king did not live to see the construction completed, and the building was completed in January 1916 under King Vajiravud (Rama VI).

In 1932, after the fall of the absolute monarchy, the Anantasamakom Palace became the seat of Parliament. On June 28, 1932, the deputies held their first sitting, and on December 10 of that year King Prachatipok (Rama VII) presented the first constitution to the people of Thailand.
