Chiang Mai was once called the Rose of the North. It was considered to be the most beautiful city in northern Thailand. The locals knew about beauty. They spent most of their lives breeding flowers. Residents of the city are proud that they have a unique action every year, not only for Thailand, but for the whole world. Once a year, Chiang Mai is transformed. Men and children, women and musicians march through the streets. Colorful noisy processions spread throughout the city. Crowds of tourists are eager to participate in these unusual processions. Hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of different colors are carried around the city. The most beautiful girls sew exotic national costumes for this event. In the end, you will choose the most beautiful one. She'll be the queen of flowers.
All this colorful action lasts three days. It starts early in the morning and ends late in the evening. The festival is full of a variety of exciting events: the opening ceremony, processions, exhibitions and competitions of flower decorators, fairs, performances, elections of the beauty queen. It is probably unnecessary to say that in addition to holidays, all Thais, especially Chiang Mai, are very fond of flowers. But it really is. Intricate plants accompany them almost all their lives. Birth, death, wedding, holidays and weekends, guests - all this is accompanied by lush bouquets of flowers. The spring flower show is probably the biggest expression of that love. It's always been like this. More than seven hundred years ago, the founders of the city called it Chiang Mai.
