Ram Poeng Temple is a historic Buddhist temple located near Umong Monastery.
According to the ancient chronicles of Yonok, the temple was built in 1492 under the reign of King Phrayat Chiangrai. The peak of fame of the temple came during the Second World War, when a hospital for the wounded was located in the temple.
Today, the temple is considered one of the main international meditation centers in Northern Thailand. Here come students and everyone who wants to learn meditation techniques from all over the world. In the temple there is a Buddhist library, where the Holy Scriptures are stored in many languages of the world.
