Description:
Chiang Mai is located in northern Thailand and is known for its rich cultural and historical heritage. It was here that in the period from the XIII century more than 300 Buddhist temples were built, which are now included in the UNESCO World Heritage List and attract many tourists.
The rapid development of the city and the construction of many temples began after the victory of King Mengrai over his enemies and the transfer of the capital to Chiang Mai. Each of the representatives of the monarch family contributed to the construction and development of the city, so today you can see the buildings of different periods. From several hundred temples can be distinguished: Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep XIV century, Wat Chiang Man XIII century, Wat Phra Singh XIV century, Wat Chedi Luang XV century and many others. All buildings attract attention with rich exterior decoration in traditional Thai style and a large number of Buddha statues. Also, streets with temples are often the venue for various festivals and parades.
