Doi Pha Hom Pok National Park

Thailand, Fang District, Chiang Mai

Description:

One of the largest and most interesting natural parks in Thailand - Doi Pha Hom Pok National Park - is located in the north of the country. Its area is almost five hundred square kilometers. Most of the park is located on mountain ranges from 400 to 2,285 meters above sea level.

The mild climate (the average annual temperature is about 14-19 degrees) formed a unique rich flora and fauna. In lush forests grow valuable tree species, for example, teak tree, Malabar iron oak. Decoration of mountain slopes is a rare beauty of orchids.

Among the unique representatives of the fauna are the turtle pigeon and purple chochochoa, living exclusively in Northern Thailand. The property of the park is a rare butterfly of the Kaiser, which is rarely seen anywhere in such significant numbers. However, because of its rarity, the butterfly was in high demand among collectors, offering up to 30 thousand baht (about one thousand dollars).

In the park there are picturesque waterfalls, caves, hot springs.
