Chiang Saen Temple Phra Dhat Jom Kiti
Wiang, Chiang Saen, Chiang Rai 57150
Description:
Northwest of Chiang Saen on a high hill is the temple of Wat Phra Dhat Jom Kiti, which served as the city-forming center many centuries ago. However, by the end of the XX century it was so destroyed that it had to be restored from the ruins. A new Viharn and Royal Temple were built. To get to the temple, you need to overcome a steep staircase of 383 steps or drive on the serpentine. There are statues of Buddha on both roads.
The surrounding area is divided into two levels. On the upper level stands an old temple, inside which there is a statue of Buddha on the sacred Bodhi tree. On the lower level is a large chedi, and at its foot is a holy spring, to which only men are allowed.
