Description:

Doi Tung Mountain is located in the Golden Triangle. This “Triangle” crosses the borders of Myanmar, Laos and Thailand. The main income of local peasants has always been income from the cultivation of opium poppy, which adversely affected the local population. However, in the 80s of the last century, the royal family took up the revival of these places, and one of the most important projects was the Doi Tung. The once dysfunctional region turned into a flowering garden when the mother of the current monarch of Thailand moved into a palace built here specifically for her.

The Doi Tung project occupies 150 square kilometers of land, more than 11 thousand people work here. Now instead of opium poppy here grow fruits, vegetables, nuts, coffee. The project is overseen by the Royal Family.
