Bridge over the River Kwai

Tambon Ban Kao, Chang Wat Kanchanaburi 71000, Thailand

Description:

The bridge over the River Kwai was built in honor of the people who died during its construction, so the second unofficial name of the bridge is the name "Death Road". Relatives of the dead prisoners of war are still coming here.

This bridge was built by American prisoners of war during World War II. It killed 16,000 Americans and 90,000 Thais. The bridge became very popular thanks to the American film of the same name, which has 7 Academy Awards. You can also find out more about the construction of the bridge in the book by Pierre Boole with the same name.

The bridge is located near the teak factory. Every year, a festival is held on the bridge, during which shows, fairs, educational events, exhibitions, etc. are organized. This event has been going on all week.
