Mahasaraka University Museum

The Mahasarakam University Museum is located in the province of the same name and is dedicated to the life and traditions of the local population. It is one of the most fascinating ethnographic museums in the country.

The museum presents samples of Isan traditional architecture. Mahasarakam University is dedicated to studying and preserving the cultural traditions of the population of the northeastern provinces of Thailand and the open-air museum is designed to showcase the best examples of national art.

The museum is located in a small park, where wooden buildings of different periods are collected. The traditional Isan house is similar to the buildings that were erected in Vietnam and Los, similar in language and everyday life. Buildings were placed on tall wooden piles, protecting against floods and floods, and often the Islans built their houses directly on the water, as they do in Southeast Asia today.

The houses at the Mahasarakam University Museum are decorated with intricate carvings and are distinguished by elegant painting. Some exhibits have survived since the beginning of the XIX century. Inside the premises are household items and utensils of the population of northern Thailand.
