Hong Kaen National Museum
About the company:
The Hong Kayen National Museum was opened in 1972. Much of its exposition is related to history, art and archaeology. In addition to the permanent museum collection, temporary exhibitions on a rotational basis are held here throughout the year.
The subject of the exhibitions is very extensive. These include “Geography and Geology in the Prehistoric Period”, “Major Archaeological Finds, Tableware, Ritual Objects”, “Human History Periods”, “Khmer and Lopburi Culture”, “Dwaravati Culture”, “Ancient Communities and Cities, Traditions, Religion”, and “The Evolution of Thai Art – Muang Hong Kaen”.
The National Museum has an extensive collection of important archaeological sites in Eastern and Northern Thailand. So, the finds from Pan Chan, in the province of Udong Thani, became a UNESCO heritage site.
The museum presents a wide range of architectural elements: marble slabs (or Sema), ancient bas-reliefs, plaster fragments and ancient tools. Other exhibits include human remains, dinosaur fossils, ancient musical instruments, ceramics, as well as Buddha images and more.
