Hong Island
oh. Hong, Krabi Province, Thailand
Description:
The rocky, forested island of Hong is one of many in Thailand’s waters. The sheer relief cliffs create a picturesque view, a small snow-white beach allows you to soak up the sun and swim with pleasure. The remoteness (albeit somewhat conditional in this case) from the civilized continent allows one to merge with nature.
Hong has his own specific features. It was he who took the blow of a giant tsunami wave in 2004. Signs of this dramatic event have survived on the island and are even its landmark. Here you can find the remains of broken boats thrown ashore, or walk the so-called trail "in the wake of the tsunami", trying to understand the people who are gripped by horror and looking for salvation.
Also popular here is snorkeling and a visit to the lagoon - almost covered by rocks bay with mangroves, which can only be accessed at low tide.
