Phimai Historic Park
City Centre, Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand Phimai
Description:
Phimai Historic Park has several ancient temples, stone structures and religious objects on its territory. Each building in the park has its own characteristics. So, one of its oldest buildings - the tower "Red Stone" - is made in the form of a square. The main sanctuary in the tower is made of white sandstone.
The architecture and decoration of the park are influenced by Khmer culture. The earliest inscriptions on the walls of buildings date back to the sixth century AD.
There are several religious sculptures in the historic park. The largest of them are the Buddha statue and the Wheel of the Law.
There is a small gallery in the park. It is a small courtyard surrounded by walls. They are engraved with the life story of Buddha.
Phimai Historic Park is considered the main attraction of Thailand. Both ordinary travelers and historians and archaeologists come to the park.
