Muang Thum Temple

Buri Ram, Thailand

Description:

Muang Tum Temple is an ancient Khmer temple in Buriram province.

According to the chronicles, the construction of the temple was started in the late X - early XI centuries. The blending of Khleang and Baphuon styles does not allow for a more precise construction time. The main deity was Shiva, although Vishnu was also worshipped here.

The Muang Tum Temple, like most Khmer temples, is oriented to the east. It has a central sanctuary, two libraries, internal and external buildings. The temple is built of stone blocks and surrounded by ponds. Despite the fact that most of the temple has been restored, the architecture of the building still impresses historians, citizens, tourists.
