Sang Moon Lake

Sun Moon Lake, Yuchi Township, Nantou County, Taiwan 555

Description:

Lake San Moon is a magnificent body of water, which is the largest in Taiwan. It is located in Yuchi, Nantau, and is considered one of the most popular attractions of this place. On the coast of this lake lives Tao tribe – Taiwanese aborigines who settled here more than 500 years ago.

Lake Sang Moon got its name from the appearance of the island, located near one of its shores. On the one hand it had the shape of a crescent moon, and on the other - the round shape of the sun. Now this island is partially flooded, and it has lost its former shape. The lake itself is located at an altitude of 748 meters above sea level, and its depth reaches 27 meters. The surface area of the lake is about 7.9 square kilometers. Swimming is prohibited here, but boat competitions are held in autumn.

The lake is surrounded by magnificent mountains, which grows quite dense forest, where you can find many hiking trails. The infrastructure around the lake is well developed. Here you can stay in a good hotel, as well as visit various excursions provided by local travel agencies.
