Taichung Airport
Description:
Taichung Airport is one of the largest in Taiwan. Although it is called international, most of its flights are domestic and are made to remote islands.
For a long time, the airport served only as an air base, where various exercises were repeatedly held. During the Vietnam War, it was used by the U.S. Air Force as an aircraft maintenance station. Only in 2004, after the construction of civil aviation facilities, the airport began to accept passenger flights.
In 2013, it is planned to complete the construction of a new terminal, which cost $135 million. With the new terminal, the airport will be able to handle about 2.5 million passengers per year.
