Antalya

Ancient city of Termessos

Gulluk Da Termessos Milli Park, Antalya, Turkey

Description:

The oldest city of Termessos in the province of Antalya, in Turkey was founded in the 3rd century BC by the Solim people, this is the only city that, due to its remote location in the mountains, could not conquer Macedonian. The city was destroyed in 243 by a strong earthquake.

To this day, the ruins of the Ancient Theatre are well preserved and presented to the attention of tourists and historians in their original form - a colossal construction consisting of stone steps located in a semicircle, the Temples of Artemis, Zeus and Hera, as well as many infrastructure objects of that time.

There is an ancient Termessos very close to the Turkish resort town of Antalya, but because of the location in the mountains, you need to walk to the ruins themselves through very picturesque places.
