Adrian's Gate

Hadrian's Gate, Barbaros Mh., 07100 Antalya, Turkey

Description:

The main attraction of Antalya is the Hadrian Gate in the form of a triumphal arch, perfectly preserved in our time. This beautiful ancient Roman structure was erected in honor of Emperor Hadrian, who visited Antalya 130 years BC. Nowadays, these gates represent the North and South towers, between which there are three arches. There is another name for such gates – “Uch Kapilar”, and this translates from the local as “Three Gates”. The upper tier is no longer, but perhaps in ancient times a statue of Hadrian himself was located on it.

The level of the gate below the modern one is almost two meters. Archaeologists have tried hard and reached the ancient stone road, where you can clearly see the traces of wheeled vehicles. You need to be careful not to hurt your feet.

Getting to Hadrian’s Gate is easy – they are included in most tourist guides and on a walking tour, with a group can be reached quickly and comfortably. If you want exotic, it is recommended to use the local tram Gate Adrian "Nostalzhik" - you need to stop at the station "Üçkapılar", but also buses with the number KL08, TC16 and KL21, get off at the stop "Atatürk Cd".
