Archaeological Museum of Antalya
Bah elievler Mh., 07050 Muratpa a/Antalya Province, Turkey
About the company:
The Antalya Archaeological Museum is located in the city center. It stores more than 30,000 exhibits, while only one-sixth of the total number are exhibited in the halls. The reason for this is quite trivial - the area of the museum in 7000 m2 does not allow you to get the rest of the exhibits from the warehouses.
The idea of creating the museum was first voiced by Süleyman Fikri Bey, the Sultan’s mentor, in 1919. At that time, Antalya was under the occupation of Italian troops. Under the guise of "defenders of civilization", Italian archaeologists took out of the country all the most precious relics. The first museum of Antalya managed to save the remaining relics in the area behind its walls.
Today, the Antalya Archaeological Museum includes 13 rooms, each dedicated to its own theme.
