Ephesus

Hadrian's temple

Ephesus, Izmir, Turkey

Description:

The temple was built many centuries ago by a little-known architect – P. Quintlus, who dedicated the temple to Emperor Hadrian. Until now, the temple has preserved its appearance well. There is an ancient building on the territory of the ancient city of Ephesus. It is one of the most well-preserved and beautiful structures on Rue Curetes.

In front of the central entrance to the temple there are four pedestals, they used to house statues of the emperors Diocletian, Constantine, Maximilian and Theodosius. At the entrance to the temple, the goddess Fortuna is depicted, and the relief of Medusa Gorgon perfectly held back. Nearby there is a small information stand, which shows a drawing-reconstruction of this building during its splendor.

A stunning and large-scale place to which you can reach yourself from Izmir by bus, but most often this place is visited during a general excursion.
