Temple of Artemis at Ephesus

Atat rk Mh., 35920 Sel uk/zmir, Turkey

Description:

The Temple of Artemis is one of the most famous and popular wonders of the world. It was formerly a Greek temple located in the city of Ephesus. Now it is the territory of Turkey, the city of Selcuk.
This structure was created in honor of the goddess of hunting and fertility Artemis in the 6th century BC. Construction lasted more than 100 years. But the temple underwent serious changes: it was completely destroyed by fire in the 4th century BC, then restored almost to its original appearance with the assistance of Alexander the Great, and in 263 it was looted. After some time, this majestic structure was closed by the ruling emperor and began to collapse under the influence of natural forces and local residents. And only in the second half of the 19th century, archaeologists managed to find the surviving remains of the temple. Of the 127 columns that once made up the facade, only one remains.
Getting to this historic place will not be difficult. From the bus station of the city of Selcuk can be reached on foot. From the city of Kusadasi can be reached by bus, leaving on the turn to the city or at the bus station.
Near the attraction there are many places for parking.
