Monument to the galouche
Description:
The commemorative Poltava peal, installed next to the observation deck on Ivanova Hill, is considered one of the symbols of modern Poltava. The authors of the monument are the artist A. Chernoshchekov and the sculptor N. Cys. The opening of the monument in 2006 was timed to the birthday of the writer N. Gogol, who sang a gallushka in his works. Initially, the monument was installed near the Assumption Cathedral, but at the request of believers, over time, it was moved closer to the Ivanova Gora restaurant. This place is popular with newlyweds and guests of the city. Near the monument annually in the first decade of June is held the Festival of Poltava gallushki.
