Independence Day of Uzbekistan

Flag of the Republic of UzbekistanOn August 31, 1991, the independence and sovereignty of the Republic of Uzbekistan was proclaimed in Tashkent. The country acquired its own symbols: flag, anthem and coat of arms. The Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan was approved.

Since then, September 1 is a public holiday and is celebrated throughout the country with mass celebrations. In 2008, Uzbekistan celebrates 17 years of independence.
