Defenders of the Motherland Day is celebrated in independent Uzbekistan in honor of the creation of its own Armed Forces. The holiday itself was established on January 14 by the decision of the Supreme Council of the Republic of December 29, 1993.

According to the established tradition, this date is widely celebrated in Uzbekistan - the national anthem of the Republic of Uzbekistan sounds on the capital's Independence Square, military units pass through the square to the sounds of a military orchestra. And, of course, the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces delivers a festive greeting addressed to the defenders of the Motherland.
