New Year

Description:

New Year
New Year in Uzbekistan is celebrated twice a year. The last time in European style is on January 1, and the second on March 21. Both days are weekends.

New Year on January 1 is more of a secular holiday, which began to be celebrated since Soviet times with the presence of all the attributes inherent in the holiday. Like all over the world, Uzbekistan has its own Santa Claus - his name is Korbobo and his Snow Maiden - her name is Korkiz. (“Kor” in translation “snow”, “bobo” – “grandfather”, “kiz” – “girl”) Instead of deer, donkey. However, it is rare to find on the streets of Corbobo on a donkey.

New Year in Uzbekistan is rarely snowy. On the windows of shops there are decorated Christmas trees, greetings of the new year hang everywhere. On the main square of Tashkent, which is called Mustaquillik, folk festivities are held: pranks, dances of different peoples, masks, Christmas trees and gifts are sold.

In Uzbekistan, it is customary to put a lot of fruits on the New Year table. In addition to traditional national dishes, there must be a watermelon. The riper and sweeter it is, the better the New Year will be.

If you have a cherished desire - you need to have time to eat 12 grapes while the clock strikes, and it will come true!

And if you break all the old, cracked ceramic plates, then for sure, nothing bad from the old year will not be repeated in the New!
