Bukhara

Eastern traditions and crafts of Bukhara: a soulful walk

Description:

I invite you to take a warm, leisurely walk along the first, brightest route of ancient Bukhara. We will give up dry academic lectures and immerse ourselves in the living culture of the East – through the history of family dynasties, ancient traditions and workshops of hereditary artisans.

What awaits you on your walk:

The heart of the old town: We will start the way at the cool Lyabi-Hauz pond, learn the secrets of Kukeldash and Nodir-Divan-Begi madrasah, and talk about the traditional life and upbringing of children in the East.

Living workshops under the domes: We will pass under the ancient vaults of Toki Sarrofon and Toki Telpak Furushon. Take a look at coiners, wood carvers and pottery masters to see how ancient art comes to life.

The greatness of the great ensembles: You will see the Kalon minaret, the mosque and the operating Miri Arab madrasah.

Legends of Registan Square: We will complete the walk at the walls of the Ark citadel, the elegant Bolo House mosque and the Shukhov openwork tower.

The pace of the walk completely adjusts to you. Here we will conclude the first and brightest part of our acquaintance with ancient Bukhara. If you are planning to stay here for a few days and want to book a second day (with the Samanid Mausoleum, the Emir’s Summer Palace and shrines) – just email me in private when booking!
