Remains of the watch fortress of Alexander the Great

Navoi region, Uzbekistan

Description:

In the city of Nurata in Uzbekistan, there are many historical sights, one of which is the ruins of an ancient fortress near the Chashma religious complex on a high hill. This fortress was built on the orders of the conqueror Alexander the Great and served as a strategic point for gathering troops, as well as a protective barrier from enemies.

Now it is a popular place among tourists. Local authorities for their convenience even built a staircase so that visitors did not have to climb the hill to the fortress.

The fortress is fenced on all sides by watch towers and covers an area of 500x500 m2. A little to the side, about 100 m, there is a watchtower, which connects to the fortress by a corridor.
