Sheikh Till Mosque
Uzbekistan, Tashkent, Hast-Imam Square
Description:
The Sheikh Till Mosque was built in 1856-1857. This mosque is still in operation, the name translates to "golden sheikh", and presumably according to legend, keeps the golden hair of the Prophet Muhammad. The mosque is not the main mosque at the moment, but in truth, it remains the largest mosque and without a doubt the main attraction of Tashkent.
You can see the mosque, walking around Tashkent with a tour, or drive to Kara barn in the Almazar district, on your own. Many tourists use the metro, as you can walk additionally in the park: the nearest station is Gafur Gulom (Gafura Gulama), and then walk for about 15 minutes.
