Amir Temur Avenue, 16, Tashkent
About the company:
The State Art Museum of Uzbekistan is one of the largest museums in Central Asia. It was founded in 1918 as the Museum of the People's University, later the Central Art Museum, since 1924 - the Tashkent Museum of Arts, since 1935 - the Museum of Arts of Uzbekistan.
The basis of the museum consists of private collections of 500 works of Uzbek decorative and applied and Western European art - painting, sculpture, art furniture, porcelain, bronze.
First, the exposition of the Museum was placed in the former palace of Prince Romanov, then in the building of the People's House. In 1974, the People’s House was demolished and a new building of the Museum of Arts of Uzbekistan was built in its place. The exposition of the museum presents interesting exhibits of ancient and early medieval art of Uzbekistan: architectural decor, embroidery, carpets, fabrics, copper-minted products, gold embroidery, jewelry art and others.
The Museum of Arts will delight with a good collection of Russian painting: icons and paintings of the XVIII century. The museum also has exhibition halls dedicated to the fine and applied arts of Europe and the countries of the East. The pride of the museum is the works of the leaders of Russian avant-garde and abstractionism.
The museum is visited annually by thousands of spectators, including foreign tourists, who mainly come to get acquainted not only with the permanent exhibition of the museum, but to take part in the openings, where rarities from the funds are exhibited. The museum has a lecture hall, sensory kiosks with information about the collection and photos of exhibits, as well as a souvenir shop.
