About the company:
The Tamara Khanum Memorial Museum was established in Tashkent in 1994. The basis for the creation of this interesting museum was the permanent exhibition of the collection of stage costumes Tamara Khanum - an outstanding dancer of Uzbekistan, People's Artist of the USSR, the founder of modern dance art.
The museum recreates the interiors of the rooms in which the dancer lived the last years of her bright life, as well as costumes and clothes, recordings of songs, an extensive collection of photographs, more than 60 years of her life. The most valuable and interesting exhibits are the artist’s manuscripts – diaries, memoirs and poems. During the 20-30s of the XX century, Tamara Khanum introduced a lot of new things to the dance and stage art of Uzbekistan, marking the beginning of more modern techniques. The creative path of the artist was laid with great efforts from amateur ensembles to universally recognized awards and state awards. Tamara Khanum independently created the original genre of folk song-dance, which won great popularity. The artist’s work has been widely recognized not only throughout Uzbekistan, but also far beyond its borders, it arouses keen interest to this day.
