Fortresses of Ancient Khorezm

The Uzbek city of Urgench is famous for its magnificent sights. There are ancient fortresses here. Elik-Kala or 50 fortresses have long attracted the attention of tourists. Almost 25 centuries ago, the ancient city of Horzem existed here. Some fortresses of about 14 centuries. Currently, the buildings have been destroyed due to weather conditions.
Local residents claim that in fact there are no more than 20 fortresses left and even visiting them at once is quite problematic. Fortresses are at great distances from each other. The most famous fortresses are called Kyzyl-Kala, Toprak-Kala, Ayaz-Kala, Chalpyk-Kala, Jampyk-Kala, Jambas-Kala, Kyrgyz-Kala and others.
To visit the fortresses of Ancient Khorzem, you need to go on a tour of the northeastern part of Urgench with a guide or locals by car.
