In the world there are many varieties of whiskey: drink American bourbon, Irish pure pot still, but it is believed that the real whiskey - Scotch malt whiskey malt.

The history of the drink can be traced back to the XII century. The authorship of all whiskeys in the world is attributed to St. Patrick, an Irish monk, a Scot by birth. In the scrolls of the Treasury of Scotland, dating back to 1494, an inscription was found: "Give eight balls of malt to Brother John Carr for the manufacture of aquavit" (this amount of malt would be enough to make about 1,500 bottles of modern whiskey!). This date is considered almost the official date of birth of Scotch whiskey, for the Latin "aqua vitae" - "water of life" - in Celtic recorded as uisge beatha (in Ireland - uisce beatha). Pronouncing the two-syllable word was clearly lazy. Gradually, only uisge remained from the two words, which transformed into uiskie and then into whisky.

The quality of whiskey is made up of dozens of factors. Malt is dried in smoke, peat coal is burned for this. Of great importance is the place of peat mining. Aberdeen coal tastes very different than the Isle of Skye coal.

Malt is mixed with water to make the wort. The wort is fermented, the braga is distilled, and an alcohol solution is obtained. The solution is aged in oak barrels. The quality of whiskey depends on the variety of oak, the area of its growth. The most exquisite varieties are poured into sherry barrels brought from the Iberian Peninsula.

The British government has taken care to define this drink. The Scotch Whisky Act was passed in 1988. Scotch whisky accounts for about a quarter of Albion's exports.

Although everyone is free to drink his favorite whiskey as he pleases, nevertheless, in order to properly evaluate the drink and enhance the impression of tasting, it is necessary to follow certain rules when choosing a glass and tasting whiskey.

Whiskey is a product associated with leisurely and thoughtful communication. It is characterized by stamina and rigor, like an English suit. It gives warmth and comfort, like a wool blanket by the fireplace.
