Queens Arcade Shopping Centre

Queen Street, Cardiff City Centre, Cardiff, CF10 2BY, Wales, United Kingdom

Description:

Queens Arcade is a famous and extremely visited (about 13 million a year) shopping center located in the heart of Cardiff. This shopping passage was erected on the site of the demolished Allders stores and Queens Street Arcade. The shopping center occupies a very advantageous position. Internally, it is connected to one of the largest moles of St. David, standing next door. The main entrance of Queens Arcade is on Queens Street and the back entrance is to the Old Library. Another entrance leads to downtown Hayes.

In this shopping center concentrated the most fashionable, famous and expensive shops in the city. There are also many cafes and eateries where you can eat, almost without breaking away from shopping.

The arcade has an unusual architecture. Its architect was clearly inspired by the buildings of the late 19th century, of which there are many in the center of Cardiff. In addition, the interior design of the shopping center is unusual. Her two levels seem tilted. Thus, even if two entrances to a building are on the same level relative to each other, the ceiling of one entrance will be the floor for the other.

Before the reconstruction in 2005, Queens Arcade filmed one of the episodes of the popular TV series Doctor Who.
