Lendal Bridge
Station Rd, York YO1, United Kingdom
Description:
One of the attractions of York is the Lendal Bridge, built in 1863. The bridge is a complex metal structure decorated with Gothic elements that were popular during the Victorian period. The parapet of the bridge is decorated with sculptures of a white rose, crossed with keys and lions, symbolizing the strength and power of England. Additional metal structures are decorated with the weapons and initials of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert.
The Lendal Bridge connects the train station to York Cathedral and is part of the city's inner ring road. It contains two car canvases and two pedestrian sidewalks lined with tiles. Its length is 180 meters, width is 12 meters.
On the waterfront, next to the bridge, there are many restaurants and cafes offering traditional British cuisine. Here you can admire the beautiful view of the river Ouz against the background of ancient buildings.
