Danubius Fountain

Description:

Budapest is beautiful, its monuments and palaces attract millions of tourists. But the fountains are truly a decoration of the Hungarian capital. One of the most magnificent and beautiful is the Danubius Fountain. The fountain was originally created by the sculptor Miklos Ibl in 1880, and was installed in Calvin Square. But the events of the Second World War completely destroyed it. The reconstruction of the fountain was carried out in 1958, but the place for it was chosen another - Erzhibet Square. The composition is a female figure in one bowl. They are symbols of the Danube tributaries - Drava, Sava and Tisa. On the top bowl is the Danube itself. In fact, the fountain was a tribute to the fashion of the 19th century, when the city squares could not be imagined without fountains. On the wall of the lower bowl there is an inscription, which refers to the author of the project and the date of creation of the fountain. You can get by Metro to the station Deák Ferenc Square, tram 47, 48 .49, city bus 15, 115, 16, 105, 9, 100E, 916, 990.
