Erzebet Bridge

Elisabeth Bridge, V. kerulet, Budapest

Description:

Erzebet Bridge, which is located in Budapest, connects 2 parts of the city, Buda and Pest, across the Danube River. The length of this bridge is 290 meters.

The name was given in honor of a Hungarian empress named Elizaveta of Bavaria, as it was pronounced Erzebet in Hungarian. The bridge was built in 1897 by specialists from Hungary. Until 1926, it was considered the longest bridge in the world. But during World War II, the bridge was destroyed, the restoration was completed only in 1964, and if the bridge used to be a chain bridge, now it has become hanging. The bridge is located on Lajos Kosuta Street, which then crosses into Hediaia Street. This sight looks modern and majestic.
