Budapest

Monument to Michael Veroshmarti

Description:

If you go for a walk in the center of Budapest, you will definitely visit the Pest area on the left bank of the Danube. You will walk to the end along Vaci Street and find yourself in a small square that bears the name of the Hungarian poet Mihai Vöröshmarti.

Around are elegant buildings of the late 19th century. And in the very center of the pedestrian square there is a multi-figure composition - a sculpture of the poet himself, reading his works, surrounded by listeners.

The monument was created by Ede Kollos and Edde Taurus from Carrara marble in 1908. On the memorial plaque there is a line from the patriotic poem Vöröshmarti with an appeal to compatriots.
