Monument to the Holy Trinity in Budapest

Description:

The statue (column) of the Holy Trinity stands on the square of the Buda fortress, near the Fisherman's Bastion. You can get there by moving from the palace of Sandor to the church of St. Matthias, and already from it to the sights we need.

The Holy Trinity Column is also called the Plague Column of Budapest. In 1691 and 1709, the plague walked through Europe and claimed millions of lives, in search of salvation, people constantly turned to heaven with prayers. Plague pillars became one of the types of prayer, as well as a monument to the dead souls.

The Budapest Column was built in 1706. In 1709, a more massive column was erected, which received the familiar name and composition, becoming the Statue of the Holy Trinity.
