Dalat

Description:

Dala? - a city in the central highlands of Vietnam, the capital of the province of Lamdong (Vietnam). Located on the Langbang plateau at a level of about 1475 meters above sea level. It is located 1491 km from Hanoi and 300 km from Ho Chi Minh City.

The name of the city most likely originated from the Latin language (“Lat” is a local ethnic group), one of the possible translations is “river of the Lat tribe”. In addition, the city has many unofficial names: “Little Paris” (to confirm this, a small but exact replica of the Eiffel Tower was erected on the back of the central market; this miniature reminds us that Dalat was built by the French to escape the sultry climate of Saigon), “City of eternal spring”.

Dalat is quite a young city. Its history begins with the colonization of Vietnam by the French. It is believed that Alexander Yersin first drew attention to the clean cool air of this area in 1887, he also spoke about the construction of a resort here.

In 1907, the first hotel was built, and in 1912 the city of Dalat was founded, which quickly gained popularity among Europeans. By 1920 the formation of the city was completed.

Now Dalat is a mountain resort surrounded by evergreen forests, numerous waterfalls, lakes, picturesque valleys, passes and natural parks.
