Description:

Nha Trang’s largest church sits atop a small hill above one of the city’s busiest roundabouts, at the confluence of six streets.

Construction began on September 3, 1928 on the initiative and under the supervision of the French missionary Holy Father Louis Valle. On May 14, 1933, the church was opened to the public. The cathedral is built in pseudo-Gothic style. Its area was 760 square meters, and it could accommodate 600 people. Initially, the mass was read in Latin, French and English, today it is only in Vietnamese.

Along the stone steps leading from the foot of the hill to the temple are statues of saints. The decoration of the cathedral is a quadrangular tower with a clock 38 meters high. It houses three large bells cast by the famous Bourdon Carillons. Bells ring every hour and during service, their ringing is heard far away in the area. The interior of the church was created in the likeness of European Gothic cathedrals. The windows, as usual, are decorated with stained glass. The cathedral is active and there is a daily service.
