Excursion to Hakon
Description:
8:30 Meeting. The transfer to Hakon will take about 2 hours.
First stop in Hakon near the volcanic lake Aschi. It is associated with the ancient legend of the dragon and the red sacred gates standing in the water, which are clearly visible from the shore.
It is on Lake Ashchi that you will cruise on a thematic pirate ship admiring the beauty of the nature of these places. The cruise lasts about 30 minutes. I will take you to the ship, and by car I will go to the next station where you will arrive, having previously explained the route and place of meeting.
On the spot, select 1. Together we sit on the funicular buying round-trip tickets and climb to a height of 1044 meters, further on the program. 2. You buy tickets only in one direction, and the guide by car will go to the mountain and meet you at the station where the funicular arrives, then on the program.
A funicular ride: Along the way, there will be stunning views of Mount Fuji, Lake Ashchi and the Owakudani Valley of Geysers. Going down at the Ovakudani station, we will admire the visible breath of the volcano, where clubs of sulfur fumes break out of the crevices - this is an incredible sight!!!
Ovakudani is also known for his black eggs. Black eggs "kuro-tamago" - ordinary chicken eggs that are hard-boiled in natural puddles of hot water with a high sulfur content. Sulfur in the water gives the egg shell a black color, also transmitting a specific smell. Locals say that 1 black egg will prolong a person’s life by seven years.
In the valley of geysers there are large souvenir shops, which at your request we can look. I will introduce you to the ancient technique of working with wood, which originated in Hakon, but has received recognition around the world. Only here is presented such a large variety of local craftsmen.
The best views of Mount Fuji will open to us for stunning photos
We'll have lunch next.
At the end of the program, based on the weather and your preferences, we will visit one of 2 options of places:
1. A museum of contemporary art that literally has no roof over its head. In addition to the famous sculptures of Henry Moore, Carl Milles, Auguste Rodin, there are also quite a lot of works by Japanese sculptors on the territory, some of which are truly unique. In the closed pavilion there is a collection of 300 works by the legendary Pablo Picasso.
2. Visiting traditional thermal springs - Hakone is famous for its onsen, the water in numerous baths both indoors and in the open air has healing properties. It is useful for neuralgia, muscle pain and improves blood circulation, gives a feeling of freshness and relaxes.
