If there is a desire and time allows, for a one-time surcharge of 168 USD we can offer an additional excursion to the island of Enosima. Entrance tickets for the escalators, the botanical garden, the lighthouse and two caves are paid independently (13 USD per person). "Enoshima" literally means "island in the bay", but this word can be translated as "island-picture". Enoshima is a picturesque island of volcanic origin, whose coastline is about 4 km. It is located 200 m from the beach of Katase and is connected to it by two parallel bridges, and at low tide - also a narrow sand spit. On the elevation of the island (73 m above sea level) there is a botanical garden. From a tall tower in the middle of the garden, you can survey the surrounding area, but at night it serves as a beacon for passing ships. The main attraction of the island is the “Enoshima Cave”, where, according to legend, a real dragon lived. In the cave is the sanctuary of Bentan, the goddess of beauty and luck. According to local legend, the island suddenly appeared in the middle of the sea after a series of earthquakes in 552 AD and it was at this time that the goddess Bentan came to earth. In 1964, the largest yacht harbor in Japan was built on the island, intended for the Tokyo Olympic Games.
